Can we create change for a better future?
The first talk of climate change started as early as the 80's - talks about oil degradation, mounting landfills, depleting ozone and so on. And something that often plagues my mind is the fact that even though this has been going on for a few decades now, we continue to hear that the action being taken is not in line with the urgency of the situation. I sincerely believe that in order to take a step in the right direction, we have to immerse ourselves into the concept and understand the scientific, no-bullshit, no-brainwash, facts behind the causes of the decline and then pick our own 'why'. (Your 'why' is that one idea, concept or reason that makes you want to take action to create change > it could be for your children, for your own health and wellbeing, to leave behind a legacy, or because it's your life's purpose.)
I invite you to spend around 30 minutes to watch the following videos which will bring you up to speed with what's happening around the world and to think about what part of the problem you might be, and what part of the solution you could be.
10 years to transform the future of humanity
3. To save the climate, we have to reimagine capitalism
4. Where does all the carbon we release go?
5. Make your actions on climate reflect your words
6. Why act now?
I hope that these talks have left you feeling a sense of urgency, a desire to act, purposeful, enlightened, pensive even - anything but hopeless. I like to think of myself as a stubborn optimist (bonus talk here) and I implore you to join the gang too.
